I got into astrology after asking myself in my teenage years why it seemed like I had “karma” or the feeling that I had a certain “lot” in life. More specifically, why I felt people respond to me and my energy in a similar way. Why did it seem like I had an energetic imprint that was almost stamped on me?

Through esoteric curiosity, I found universal answers. And those answers are still fine and good. But the only real satisfactory “answer” I found for my soul in this life was discovering I’m a Rising Scorpio. Now this linked my inner world to an observable, universal concept. Now this felt like truth, or at least, something truthful. This answered some of my Why.

Interesting, I had already gotten to know a bit about each sign before understanding what the rising sign was and calculating mine. And I distinctly recall saying to myself as I entered my birth data—if I’m not a rising Scorpio I won’t believe in astrology!

Needless to say, I wasn’t diverted from the path, though I have encountered my fair share of healthy scepticism along the way.

It took me a few more years to start taking the practice seriously because I then failed to understand how sidereal and tropical astrology could both exist. And it made me upset! It took me a while to get that they were different systems—one which tracks the fixed stars and the other following the path of the sun.

Ultimately astrology has become such a big part of my life I feel compelled to share it with others. It also still provides sound answers and I consider it an excellent guide and method of connection with what is both natural and greater than ourself.
